ChurchTrax - Church Recordkeeping System

ChurchTrax Version 1.9.1

Purpose

ChurchTrax Version 1.9.1 is available via CD (only) and is intended for new ChurchTrax users running Windows 98 or Windows ME computers.

Existing ChurchTrax users of editions older than Version 1.9.1 should probably not consider upgrading to Version 1.9.1 as this software is quite old and, although still available, will not likely be of any significant added value.

All users of hardware and software this old should consider upgrading to a more current environment.

Enhancements

Only the latest edition of ChurchTrax represents an up-to-date edition.  Even though ChurchTrax Version 1.9.1 is made available, please note that it has not been modified since it was originally published in May 2007.  ChurchTrax Version 1.9.1 is "frozen" and will receive no enhancements or new features.

Availability

ChurchTrax Version 1.9.1 availability ends December 31, 2010.

Support

The only support offered users of these older editions will be to assist with an upgrade to the latest edition of ChurchTrax.  Other than this, no support is offered.

Upgrade support (per the above) will be offered only if you are able to fulfill Your Initial Responsibility as follows:

  • reading the available documentation as contained on this web site, in the ChurchTrax Installation Guide, in the ChurchTrax Administrators Guide, and in the ChurchTrax Users Guide;

  • being knowledgable of various Microsoft Windows capabilities (including Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer) and possessing other basic computer technical skills.
If you lack the basic skills outlined above, you should enlist appropriate assistance from someone within your ministry to help you fulfill Your Initial Responsibility prior to requesting additional support from us.

Compatibility

Database sharing between unlike editions of ChurchTrax is not permitted.  The ChurchTrax database may only be shared with other computers running the identical edition of ChurchTrax.

  • All three digits of the ChurchTrax version number (x.x.x) are examined when applying this above rule.

Upgrading to the Latest ChurchTrax Edition

Upgrading to the latest ChurchTrax edition from any prior edition has always been supported and is a relatively simple task.  The only requirement is that your computer has the appropriate hardware and Windows version supported by the latest ChurchTrax edition.

Due to a change that occurred in ChurchTrax Version 2.2.0 regarding which folders are used by the ChurchTrax system, upgrading from an edition earlier than Version 2.2.0 to the latest edition is a bit more complicated than most other ChurchTrax version upgrades … fortunately, this transition will only occur once.  To upgrade from a version of ChurchTrax prior to Version 2.2.0, you'll need pay special attention to the instructions in Section Nine of the ChurchTrax Installation Guide to download and install the latest ChurchTrax edition as if you were a first time user while preserving your church's ChurchTrax database through the transition.

If your computer does not have the appropriate version of Microsoft Access installed to support the latest ChurchTrax edition, "Microsoft Office Access 2003 Runtime" and "Microsoft Office Access 2007 Runtime" are made available by us (at no cost).  Either may be installed (depending upon your installed versiopn of Windows) along with the latest ChurchTrax edition.

When employing ChurchTrax in a Multi-User / Shared Database environment, please note that the ChurchTrax database may only be shared amongst computers running the identical edition of ChurchTrax … database sharing between unlike editions of ChurchTrax is not permitted.  All three digits of the ChurchTrax version number (x.x.x) are examined when applying this rule.
